CHERRY HILL, NJ (June 13, 2016) – NEW ROAD Construction Management has been named the winner of two Project Achievement Awards for 2016 by the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) Mid-Atlantic Chapter: Public Building Projects Under $20 Million, for the Cumberland County Workforce and Economic Development Facility at Cumberland County College; and K-12 Building Projects Under $20 Million, for HVAC and Fire Alarm Replacement at Mount Holly Township Public Schools.
“We’re honored by CMAA’s recognition of our team for quality, cost management and innovation during these challenging projects,” said Chuck Romanoli, Principal Partner at NEW ROAD Construction Management. “I’m proud to work with this talented and highly qualified team that communicates effectively and solve problems creatively.”
The Cumberland County Improvement Authority selected NEW ROAD as the Construction Manager of Record to oversee the creation of a new $7.6 million two-story building
for county and state offices, workforce training, college classrooms and meeting rooms with an aggressive one-year construction schedule. By coordinating closely with the design team, contractors and owner, NEW ROAD successfully cut construction cost by 20% and was able to safely integrate and expand existing Cumberland County College campus utilities in the center of the active campus.
The Mount Holly Board of Education engaged NEW ROAD to complete a $20 million phased construction program, starting with asbestos abatement, complete HVAC system and fire alarm replacement, substantial building renovations and upgrades at two elementary schools. NEW ROAD met the challenge of finding $3 million in cost reduction options. During the school year, work was restricted to evenings and weekends to ensure schools were clean and safe for students. Despite scheduling and budget difficulties, the project was completed on time and came in under budget.
The Project Achievement Awards were presented at the CMAA Awards Banquet on June 7, 2016 at the New Jersey Aquarium in Camden. To be eligible, projects had to be completed between March 1, 2015 and March 1, 2016 in Eastern Pennsylvania, South Jersey, or Northern Delaware. Entries were judged by a committee of owners and professional construction managers on the CMAA Regional Board of Directors. For details, visit www.CMAAMidAtlantic.org.
